BONANZA COMMUNITY CHURCH

What We Teach

Abbreviated Statement of Faith

What a church teaches matters.

We want those who attend Bonanza Community Church—and those considering visiting—to know clearly what they will be taught. Our doctrine is not determined by changing culture, personal preference, or what happens to be popular. We believe Scripture is the authoritative Word of God and therefore must govern what the church teaches.

The following is an abbreviated statement of the biblical doctrines taught at Bonanza Community Church.

01

The Scriptures

We teach the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God and the final authority for faith and life.

02

The Triune God

We teach in one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in essence, power, and glory.

03

God the Father

We teach God the Father is the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, faithful to His promises and working all things for His glory and the good of those who love Him.

04

Jesus Christ

We teach Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully man without ceasing to be God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes for believers.

05

The Holy Spirit

We teach the Holy Spirit is a divine Person who convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers believers for godly living and service. Spiritual gifts are given for the edification of the Church, and the sign gifts are not normative today.

06

Man, Marriage, and God’s Design

We teach man was created in God’s image as male and female but fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience and is spiritually dead apart from God’s grace. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and God’s design for family and sexuality is good and purposeful.

07

Salvation

We teach salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, apart from works. All who repent and believe are forgiven, made new, and granted eternal life.

08

Security and Holy Living

We teach all true believers are eternally secure in Christ and may have assurance of salvation, while being called to live holy lives empowered by the Spirit.

09

The Church

We teach the Church is the body and bride of Christ, made up of all true believers, expressed through local, autonomous congregations devoted to worship, teaching, fellowship, ordinances, and mission. Pastoral leadership is reserved for biblically qualified men.

10

God’s Redemptive Plan

We teach dispensational theology, recognizing God’s orderly administration of His redemptive plan, culminating in Christ’s future millennial reign.

11

Satan

We teach Satan is a real, personal being, the enemy of God and man, destined for eternal judgment.

12

Things to Come

We teach in the imminent, pre-tribulational rapture of the Church and the premillennial return of Christ, followed by the resurrection of all people—believers to eternal life and unbelievers to eternal punishment.

13

Christian Living and Mission

We teach believers are called to love God and others, submit to civil authorities unless contrary to Scripture, and faithfully fulfill the Great Commission by proclaiming the gospel and making disciples.

14

Biblical Separation

We reject movements and teachings that compromise biblical truth, including but not limited to ecumenism, neo-orthodoxy, and new evangelicalism, and affirm separation unto sound doctrine and obedience to God’s Word.

15

Covenant of Faith

We affirm a Covenant of Faith, committing ourselves to sound doctrine, holy living, and faithful witness for the glory of God and the advance of the gospel.

Doctrine is meant to shape life.

We do not teach these truths merely as information to be known. Biblical truth should shape our worship, our walk with Christ, our life together as His church, and our witness to the world.
