LEADERSHIP

Serving Christ
and His church.

Leadership is stewardship, not ownership.

BIBLICAL LEADERSHIP

Christ is the Head of His church.

Those entrusted with leadership at Bonanza Community Church serve under the authority of Jesus Christ and His Word. Church leadership is not about position or status. Its purpose is to shepherd, teach, equip, and serve God's people faithfully.

Pastoral preaching at Bonanza Community Church

PASTOR

Rev. Antonio E. Sanchez

IFCA International Member

Pastor Tony serves Bonanza Community Church with an emphasis on biblical teaching, discipleship, and equipping believers for the work of ministry. His desire is that Scripture govern both what the church teaches and how the church carries out its ministry.

His ministry experience includes training in children's ministry and evangelism as well as missionary and pastoral ministry. He continues to emphasize that those who serve Christ should remain teachable, continue preparing for ministry, and seek faithfulness rather than recognition.

Above all, his conviction is that Bonanza Community Church belongs to Jesus Christ. The pastor's responsibility is therefore not to build a church around himself, but to faithfully shepherd what belongs to Christ.

SERVING THE CONGREGATION

Our Deacons

Our deacons serve the church family through practical care, encouragement, and a willingness to meet needs as they arise.

Phil Krauss speaking at Bonanza Community Church

DEACON

Phil Krauss

Phil came to know the Lord at an early age and was baptized while attending grade school. His faith has remained an important part of his life throughout the years.

Phil and his wife, Patti, have been married for over 46 years and have been part of the Bonanza Community Church family since 2019. He is a proud Army veteran and retired law enforcement officer, having spent much of his life in roles centered around service to others.

As a deacon, Phil believes God has called him to serve the church and be a source of encouragement to those around him. His desire is to be available to others, offer encouragement, and help meet the needs of the congregation as opportunities arise.

For Phil, serving as a deacon is another opportunity to put his faith into practice by caring for others and faithfully serving the Lord and His church.

Gus DeVries speaking at Bonanza Community Church

DEACON

Gus deVries

Gus grew up on a dairy farm, where he learned the value of hard work at an early age. After graduating from high school, he began a career in the telecommunications industry that spanned 40 years, working in cable installation, engineering, and management. He and his wife, Sandy, moved to their ranch in Beatty, Oregon, in 1996, where he has enjoyed raising cattle and gardening.

Gus’s journey of faith began during a difficult season in his life when a Christian neighbor shared a small Bible with him, pointing him to 1 John 4:8 and the simple truth that “God is love.” In 1985, he gave his life to Christ and was later baptized at First Southern Baptist Church in Hollister, California.

Gus and Sandy have been part of Bonanza Community Church since 2008, and he has served on the Deacon Board in previous years. His heart for ministry comes from a desire to extend the same kindness and encouragement that others once showed him.

For Gus, serving as a deacon isn’t about recognition but about being available when someone needs a helping hand. Whether assisting someone through a difficult season or sharing practical skills with a younger generation, he finds his greatest satisfaction in seeing others overcome challenges, grow, and succeed.

Leaders equip. The church ministers.

We believe a healthy church gradually produces believers who themselves become ministers to others as the whole Body grows toward maturity in Christ.
